Featured Wine: 2006 Cana's Feast Pinot Noir, Meredith Mitchell Vineyard
Meredith Mitchell is one of the state's most important vineyards. Located in the McMinnville AVA, it was planted in 1998 to own-rooted Pommard clones; wines from this site show off the region's darker tones of Pinot noir, with structure and finesse to match. Reviews: The 2006 Pinot Noir Meredith Mitchell Vineyard was aged for 10 months in 50% new French oak before bottling without fining or filtration. Dark ruby/purple-colored, the nose offers a fragrant array of pain grille, mineral, blueberry, and plum. On the palate the wine is layered, bordering on opulent, with superior depth, concentration, and richness. The pure finish is exceptionally persistent. Give it 2-3 years in the bottle and drink it from 2010 to 2018. (92 - Wine Advocate #178, Oct 2008) Bright red, sexy aromas of candied red and dark berries, potpourri and oak spice. Supple raspberry and blackberry flavors provide impressive palate coverage, with velvety tannins providing shape. Repeats the sweet dark berry notes on the gentle, sappy finish. (89 - Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar #144: May/June 2009) The 2006 Cana's Feast Meredith Mitchell opens with aromas of cranberries, raspberries and Chelan cherries, followed by flavors of Rainier cherries and even black cherry liqueur. It's hedonistic, yet has plenty of acidity. (Wne Press NW, Recommended Selection)
